I had a fantastic time entertaining for the wonderful RTC North folks in the Milner hotel in York.
Julie (who booked me) went home with an impossible souvenir (an inverted card with her name and signature on it), several minds were blown away by a freely selected card appearing on the wifi signals of the spectator's phone, rings were borrowed and magically re-appeared deeply buried inside a nest of wallets. Several signed coins were mysteriously bent, jaws dropped when the five of diamonds morphed into a spectator's chosen card as they were holding it.
One guy asked me about how AI was influencing magic and I gave him a demonstration of how Siri could first name a playing card and then predict the position of that same card in a randomly cut deck of cards and repeat this after cutting the deck, twice more.
A lovely lady gave random answers to four questions which were spelt out using cards. She was initially disappointed with the outcome but in a subtle twist she discovered that she really did have an amazing personality.
Minds were read using a six sided coloured cube in a box. Unusually, I didn't get the wrong answer even once. More minds were read using a book to generate random words.
I was delighted to perform for the first time a trick whereby given someone's date of birth I then proceed to tell them the day of the week they were born on and also the number of days since their birth until today which comes up on a spectator's phone.
Due to the heat, I had to ditch my jacket for once. I didn't have the benefit of being able to carry large numbers of effects with me but I managed. It was a very tiring session though.
