Fabulous outing to Thirsk Lodge Barns for the wedding of Amy and Alan Millard. Great venue. Great people. Lovely reactions and comments.
What a wedding that was. I'm so glad I was invited to entertain. I had an absolute blast. They loved:
-Bending coins
-Gift wrapping a borrowed ring
-Guessing the chosen colour on a cube
-Hacking into the wifi to reveal a freely chosen card
-Storm Force 7 (mind reading a chosen card)
-Teaching a youngster the nine card trick and having him perform to the guests.
-Revealing one card in a glass and another on the back of the card box.
I performed Deadline (for the first time) twice. The first time I got two out of the three cards right (so I missed one card) but the second time it worked perfectly and the dad instinctively knew that the three numbers on the stopwatch on his phone were relevant without me even asking. This is such a wonderful addition to my strolling magic material. It takes the standard triumph effect into a whole new league.
I also performed for the first a newish trick which asks the spectator four questions and for each question I spell out the answer they give by dealing down cards. In theory the spectator can also spell out the word by dealing cards, although I realised at a previous gig that it was more reliable if I spelt out the answers! Whatever card they arrive at after four questions is then revealed to demonstrate that they have a wonderful personality. Its a nice effect that will only improve the more I do it.
How come there is a video of the confetti walk?
On this occasion I wasn't being hired as a videographer but I always take my everyday carry camera with me to magic events I'm booked for and it would be rude not to film some of the highlights. Here is a slow motion sequence of the confetti walk. Note that there is no sound with a slow motion video. (If there was it would sound fairly weird). There was a huge amount of confetti!
